Spreading nicely out into Aberdeenshire now - shutting down just Aberdeen City was a shambles from the start - half these guys cutting about in packed pubs over the weekend travel in from Aberdeenshire
We went out for our first meal and drinks last night. Were on the train just for one stop but no one was wearing a mask. Looked like particularly lassies who'd done their makeup didn't want to ruin it. Restaurant was quiet enough but didn't take any details. The bar took our details and was table service and we felt quite relaxed there. Hit or miss all over really but would agree it's going to come back in a big way. It only took one person to kick start it last time, not sure why people think it's gone.
People seem to think that because they're bored with it, the virus will operate to their schedule. It'd be miraculous if it didn't come back within a couple of months.
Feel like the way media/politicians keep referring to it as 'reopening' really isn't helping. I know that it's a bit unwieldy to constantly refer to 'moving between different stages of lockdown' or whatever, but 'reopen' implies that we're on the road back to normal, even if it's gradual, when in reality it's very possible that some kind of social distancing measures will be in place for years.

This.
It only took one (probably asymptonmatic) person to cause the outbreak in Aberdeen.
I don't go anywhere where there's people without a mask on.
Surely this is just going to be the norm until we find a vaccine if we are going to keep pubs and bars open?
I don't see how the gvt can expect drunk people themselves to be 100% compliant and a busy bar to have to manage individual cases where people aren't following the guidance. I can see how it works in other businesses but as soon as you add alcohol into the mix it doesn't work.
The police should've been more involved but it seemed to just be accepted when they said they couldn't enforce it at the start and that was that.

I don't think you can tbf. A police presence in every bar / restaurant (even in the shape of patrols) would do more harm than good imo.
Heavier-handed enforcement leads to police confrontations with angry punters shouting “I've got anxiety so don't have to wear a mask - prove that I don'tâ€.

Why could they not have put more presence in the city centres though?
They don't need a policeman in every pub. It would be harder for some of the smaller towns outside the cities but at the very least they could've had a bigger presence making sure it wasn't getting out of control.
I seen a video of a policeman in Ireland going through a guy for his queue being out of control and threatening him with closure. Unfortunately think that's what we need because you can't expect people's good sense of personal responsibility to shine through when it comes to going out and getting pished. It's the businesses who need policed imo rather than the individuals.
Maybe there should've been more limits on opening times to appeal to folk who just want a few drinks rather than going out to get smashed. Drove through town last night, it was quieter than usual but still

Would you go out to a restaurant if they were very strict with the 2m rule, or would you still not risk it?
Just curious. Customers at mine are meant to be wearing their mask right up until they sit down at their seat and then they can take it off, and they're meant to put it back on if they get up to use the toilets. Because we're upstairs it's impossible to police that unless I put a doorman on or something, and I'd say 50% of people don't bother wearing the masks coming in. We just make sure they sanitise their hands before they do anything.
We're only taking one table every 15 minutes aswell to avoid customers coming into contact With other customers.

As long as the restaurant has reduced the covers so that there's at least some gap between tables then it should be okay. I'd like to see waiting staff wearing ppe, but understand it's not always possible so would hope they're being tested.
I went out with the family a couple of weeks ago, and we wore masks inside until we were being seated but there were lots who weren't at all, even when they were waiting outside.
You just need to go with the government recommendation I think..
We took the kids to Pizza Hut during the week. They seem to be doing it quite well, staff in masks and order and pay for your food on the website to reduce contact. Was the one out your way Felix
