The amount of pish I've been sent about logging in and doing training online, joining zoom meetings to 'ask questions' etc etc.

Not happening, just fuck off and whisper it gently to me when I've to return to work.

You’ll never get a better opportunity to better yourself through training whilst still getting paid. Probably worthwhile using the time off beneficially rather than spending it shitposting and playing crash bandicoot?

Nah it's shitty boring as sin training that I can do when I'm at work and waste time doing it there rather than doing it at home when I could probably have about 15 wanks during that time instead Jezza

I’m enjoying it, the mrs is good at leaving me be when working so aside when the wee man comes up for his bath and nap and when he wakes up and I get some time with him I’m just working away on my tod as I’m upstairs in the spare room with two baby gates between me and them.

Only issue is my routine is governed by my meetings so my meal times are inconsistent or sometimes non existent (cue Benoit - you could do with skipping a meal chunk lololololol )

End of the day I’m definitely less drained so I’m feeling more refreshed for cooking and spending time with the fam which is better for all of us

I’d love to spend most of my time home working going forward

Can see Pete’s point, if you’ve been considering looking elsewhere what better chance to get paid to train yourself up on some new skills :Tony Hmm

Correct Charlie. Can’t moan about not progressing with work/earnings whilst passing up a 3 month period where you could be looking at how you improve your skill set whilst still receiving pay. It’s not like you can spend your days travelling or doing anything worthwhile so what a perfect opportunity.

Scotland is going to be massively short on people that can carry out energy performance certificates over the next 5 years. You can do an online course on zoom over two days right now to become an approved assessor and any donkey can carry out an EPC. £60 an EPC at 8 a day and all you need is a tape measure and a laptop. Seize the opportunity May Bee

Nobodies saying you should do anything. Just suggesting sitting in your pants playing computer games probably isn’t a good use of your time or good for your mental health. Also suggesting we’ll never get a better opportunity to press reset on what we’re doing and where we’re going. I personally don’t care what anyone does with their time off May Bee

A mate did EPCs for a bit. You could get a few guys working for you quite quickly if you can make the right connections (i.e. get a pal that is an estate agent).

By 2022 every rental property has to have a b rated epc for energy meaning there’s going to be hundreds of thousands of EPC’s carried out in Scotland in that time. You could start your own business and just do them nights and weekends alongside your own work until you build up a customer base.

Ive completed the course just to save us having to subby assessors in for our renewable work but it’s genuinely a great opportunity for people looking for a change. I know of assessors down south that are looking into the cost of flights from London to Edinburgh to see if it’s viable to fly up twice a week to try to get 10 surveys up here in a day then type them up at home the following days such is the demand up here.

Can’t disagree more with Pete here.

If anything this pandemic has allowed me understand that getting all anxious about career etc... is a big fallacy. Rather than viewing yourself as a commodity of which this time is great opportunity to “upskill” to make yourself more desirable in the job market, use this time to get in touch with nature, speak with your family more and do projects out of pure enjoyment. Steve has already mentions that he’s becoming a dab hand in the kitchen and that he’s spoken to family members more than ever before through zoom quizzes etc...

Subtly guilt tripping him because he’s not obsessed with how he could add more value to potential employers is not good for mental health. Bash on with your gaming son. Enjoy the downtime.

I’d suggest try a bit of painting or drawing if you like, but in general, you do you.
