Where do we stand on this?

I know we joked about Romanov, but I don't think I could support Hearts if it happened to us - just a step over the line in that regard.

Then again, the UK sells Saudi their weapons so why should Newcastle be any different?

Thoughts?

Not for me.

One of England's proper football clubs going to get turned into some billionaires plaything. Wouldn't set foot in Tynecastle if Hearts were owned by Saudis.

Rubbish.

Think this briefly came up before and that was the view. They’re scum and it’s a totally different level to a guy like Romanov.

The World Cup is being held in Qatar. Man City, PSG and Barcelona are all bank rolled by Qatar. The Saudi's buying a club is just the next step. The morals in football boat sailed a long time ago.

"Plaything" is too kind a word. Chelsea were Abramovich's plaything, but the Saudis want to use Newcastle as a vehicle to project a kinder image of themselves across the world, whitewashing their atrocities at the same time. Much more sinister than a plaything.

Anything achieved under a regime like that would feel genuinely tainted. Couldn't support the club with anything more than a passing interest if it came to it at Hearts, and certainly wouldn't be putting any money into it.

It's a total shiter for Newcastle fans like. A decade of the most hated owner in English football bar the Oystons, and they're finally getting shot of him to welcome in the most hated regime in geopolitics  Warnock

I'd take their money in a second Warnock

Imagine going to Parkhead and Ibrox absolutely pumping them Pinilla

Imagine the utter seethe from Hibs fans Laugh Especially the ones at work.

I’d be a total shameless whore for their cash if they were going to have us wipe the floor with the OF tbf, as well as be a proper arrogant dick about it Warnock

When the Foundation eventually take over it’s hard to see how this would ever happen at Hearts. 75% if members needing to agree to a sale won’t happen imo.

Couldn’t give a fuck. Happy for their fans, and I’d jump on their money in a second if it meant us winning every week.

The World Cup in Qatar is going to be mince and will most likely ruin it forever.

We've sacrificed the potential of something like this happening for security, and that's fine.

Part of me fantasises about securing China league style players like Ozil, Drogba, Hulk etc... and just papping Celtic and Rangers 5-0 but then I have to snap out of it and realise it still wouldn't be worth it...  Woy Not Sure

I hear what AP is saying about the boxing fight, but you don't really have an affinity to the hosts of the boxing match or even to the boxers that much. Our club is a community/social institution. I sound like a hat-kicker here, but I guess my limit would be this.

I do agree though that I don't see how the UK can block this move as they are one of the Saudis closest partners. It would be complete hypocrisy to do that.

I’m not a fan of the Saudi’s sportswashing as a PR tool, but I’m not going to grudge Newcastle fans a bit of success if that’s the end result.

As much as I’ve enjoyed their suffering over the years it’s a travesty they’ve not won anything for as long as they have.

Yeah, this feels especially distasteful. Genuinely would like to think I'd stop supporting Hearts if we became a sportswashing vehicle for the Saudis - you have to draw the line somewhere.
