If we had signed snodgrass during the window when we had time I don't think many would've been buzzing about signing him
We've been burned fairly recently persisting with guys in their mid to late 30s who couldn't cut it physically and ended up causing us lots of bother in games so I hope at the very least he is fit as fuck and can keep up with the pace of things.

He didn't play a lot of football last season.
I get what you are saying, but there's a big difference between signing Snodgrass as opposed to Glenn Whelan or Steven MacLean.
At least we know what we are getting with Snodgrass and that he'll be in training every day rather than rocking up for matches and sitting in the house otherwise.
I'm old enough to remember us signing Jim Bett back in the day, his legs had definitely gone by the time he signed for us, but he pinged the ball about like you wouldn't believe and just looked a class apart from everyone around him.
I'm not saying we should go all out and sign lots of older players, but there's lots to be said for having experience in the team.
He'll probably slot into a 10 role comfortably and we all know he can ping a free kick too. It's not like we've signed a legs gone Aidan McGeady is it?

Tbh I'm not sure what state he'll be in because not really seen him play last few years but just looking at his wiki he's not been playing very much, maybe can't take that as an indication of his fitness though.
Not saying we shouldn't have signed him because at this stage we probably have little options and it's good to get someone in who knows the league but if this signing had been announced with 2/3 weeks of the window left I don't think I'd be happy with it. We'll probably be expecting him to play a decent amount of football this season with Boyce out and we're relying on a 35 year old not to pick up any injuries or were back at square one. Not the greatest position to be in imo.

We got half a year out of Naismith but then became a total pain in the arse as a player for the rest of the time. Hobbling about on his walking stick barking at his teammates.
