Now that we have some idea of when things will start, who's staying and going?

It's hard to imagine Hickey, Smith, Washington, Boyce and Clare sticking around.

Boyce and Naismith have made noises about staying in interviews. Boyce will surely have thought about this considering he joined when we were 5 points from safety.

Clare might stay. Smith and Washington will want to stay in contention for Northern Ireland with a possible Euros campaign, so they'll be off. Hickey barely wanted to stay last season, so no chance he'll be here in October.

Hard to make a case for any of them staying, tbh.

Reckon Hickey and maybe one other will leave. Pretty sure Boyce said he would stay? And Smith is almost 32, he might feel better off staying.

Our main targets now we appear to have sorted the goalkeeper situation should be a left-back if Hickey goes and some actual width.

Neilson did say he was looking at wingers.

Budge's statement on Monday night gave the impression that there isnt going to be money to bring anyone in.

Can't wait to see what John Murray comes up with this time Monty Ooh

About half the squad should be told to go. Can't blame a player like Hickey wanting to go, TBH.

Aye. Unfortunately in our situation we've probably missed out on some decent free agents. Wonder if Man City will throw us our yearly bone

Really hope Clare goes. Not someone who is a league winner. Regardless of level.

I respect him for his racism instagram thing. But i want him out immediately.

Not really heard any murmurings of major players leaving, but who knows really. If we can get rid of Damour and the Aussies then that would be fine by me, Olly Lee’s coming back as well I believe and he’ll be more than fine for the middle of the park with Irving and Cochrane.

Signing wingers is clearly a major issue and we need to sort that out, I’m all for giving Moore and Henderson a shot but they’re the only wingers we’ve got at this point and I’m not even sure how much of a winger Henderson is.

I want hickey to go for his own sake. He will not develop in this joke league.

Think Naismith will stay and play the leader.

Lee back disgusts me tbh.

Moore and Henderson should be good enough for this level, although I'd like to think we can do better should we go up.

Lee was decent last season by all accounts, and should get a clean slate without the handicap of Levein. Again, he should be good enough for this division.

Cochrane and MacDonald should also be making the step up.

Haring is working his way back to fitness as well (Comical Ally)

Robbie went with young boys wide last time so I’ve got no doubt he will try again this time.

Boyce has said he’s staying no matter the league and let’s be honest he should score for fun in the diddy league. Naismith won’t get what he’s on even with the wage cut anywhere else and will stay as well.

We need a centre half, a left back and maybe another front man.

Smit was one of the very few who came out of last season with any credit, and has done well at international level, so he probably won't be short of offers. Sob

I reckon Boyce will stay too. Hickey will probably go. Don't care much about any of the rest of them tbh.

Current squad list:

https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/squads/first-...ying-squad

From that I'd be quite happy to lose White, Garuccio, Clare, Damour, Morrison, Washington, Uche and not bat an eyelid - all of them can fuck off.

Then there's another category of player that "will do a job in the first division" otherwise I'd happily see them fuck off as well - Zlamal, Halkett, Burns, Brandon, Walker. Unfortunately we will have minimal money to bring many players in, so there guys will have to do, otherwise I'm open to all of them leaving.

From what's left we can build a team around a core of Gordon, Smith, Souttar, Naismith and Boyce. There's your first five names on the team sheet each week.

The rest can be supplemented by the likes of Cochrane, Irving, McDonald, Conor Smith, Moore, Henderson. Massive season ahead for all of them. Particularly looking forward to seeing the first four names listed there and what they can do.

Also got Berra and Lee to throw in the mix as well but undecided what role they should play. I'd imagine given Neilson's relationship with Berra he will play a major part. Would be good if Lee could get back to the previous form prior to getting Levein flu and his peformances dipping.

Also working on the assumption Hickey will be sold unfortunately.

I know he wasn't exactly flavour of the month for quite some time but was Clare not one of our best players for around the last 3 months of football?  Why are people so against him continuing to improve in maroon?  I would guess that several guys on the to go list are also on decent wages which may mean they aren't exactly easy to shift especially in the current climate where there will be significant numbers of players unemployed across Europe. As much as I would like to see a huge clear out it seems some what fanciful.

Clare was dreadful for the majority of his first year. I'm guessing he'll be on a decent wage as well. There were decent signs under Stendel, but he was only at times a standout in a side that got relegated. Definitely wouldnt be devastated to see him go.

Agree, won't be shedding any tears just feel it's a little harsh given his form in relation to many of his colleagues. I guess the question is, where will he be going too? Many clubs are going to be curtailing spending and having more streamlined squads.

When moved to right back he became a decent stand-in right back for Smith when injured. In amongst his good performances were mistakes that lead directly to goals.

I think Brandon does an OK job as a subby right back. Not sure we need someone amazing to fill that position.

If we could get rid of Naismith without paying his contract up think we should.

Too expensive for what we need. Washington and souttar hopefully will move on as well.

What's the thinking behind this please?
