Boyce is out of contract at the end of the coming season and probably one of our highest earners. Are the folk that want to keep him thinking about giving him an extension into 32/33 years old? Not for me. This is a smart time to sell and freshen it up.
If you could guarantee me Simms coming back and another striker or two coming in, I'd be happy to let Boyce go down south for a fee. I just hate the old method of just cutting useful squad players loose every year, especially next year when we're going to have plenty games and our squad is pretty short on depth.
If he stays and helps us get 3rd again by chipping in a few goals when he plays, and we end up with group stage football the following season I couldn't care less if he left on a free tbh.

That's not really an option we've got though - we're not going to keep Boyce and sign two strikers to play ahead of him with him chipping in every now and again. If you keep him you're committing to him being the main man which I don't think many of us would want.
The alternative if you keep him as a reserve is you're saying to the rest of the squad you need them to run their arses off playing twice a week, while Boycey pops up here and there and earns twice as much as them

Don't see how it's not, that's football. Players are signed and play as first team players for most of their contract, if he's in his last year then I don't see why his teammates would be that fussed if he played as a bit part player and chipped in with goals off the bench or whatever, it's not like boys we sign aren't going to get decent wages now.
I'm sure Robbie's capable of speaking to Boyce and saying he's going to be kept on as a rotation player at best, it's not like he's not going to get games considering we're going to play 3 games a week most weeks until Christmas.
I'm just wary of going into the season with 2 strikers who are potentially untested in the system (assuming Simms isn't re-signed) with so many potential games.

Lucky you.
Boyce is going the way of Wayne Rooney; he looks more effective when dropping deeper (because he can find enough space to take aeons on the ball before deciding what he wants to do with it). You'd fancy Rooney to finish a 1-on-1 every now and again anaw.

The Gorgie Jorge will be getting signed to play behind the striker so if you play Boyce they'll both be trying to play in the same areas
Aye once you add Jorge and Shankland (and hopefully Simms) into things all of a sudden it's not looking too clever for Boyce. There must be a reason our top scorer is sitting with a year to run on his deal and it's starting to look like he's on the way out.

Went back to the states before the end of the season for a “restâ€.
Can see him telling them to ram it, as I'm sure there was a couple of run ins with Goodwin.
