Shiting it tbh. High street retail is probably perma-gubbed now. Hospitality will be on a knife-edge for so many. Manufacturing will be perma-gubbed once Brexit hits in a few months. Universal Basic Income still seems like a pipe dream under this government (but then again, so did something like the furlough scheme).

I imagine that most of us here are of an age where we've been trying to get into the job market / onto the housing ladder in the shadow of one recession, and are now trying to fight wage stagnation in another recession. Good thing we've got our avocado toast though eh.

From the Guardian:

Quote:GDP has grown 11.3% since the depths of lockdown in April but remains 17.2% below its level in February before the pandemic struck.

We'll see what happens when the furlough scheme ends in October. Monty LewLew

I’m fairly certain my job is secure, our interim results weren’t great but my part of the business was up so think we’re comfortable for now at least. Shitter for everyone else, This particular brand of Tories certainly aren’t the government I’d want in charge to look after workers.

It's thoroughly depressing. Particularly as we are all well aware of the boomers who have had it brilliant despite being absolute cretins Mugbie

I properly snapped at my stepmum a few weeks back because she tried to claim her gen hadn't had it easier getting on the property ladder  Warnock

https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/uk-ave...42411.html

Quote:Millennials looking to buy a home face prices that are now at least 14 times higher than when baby boomers tried to get on the property ladder in the late 1970s. But average wages have risen at less than half the pace of runaway house prices in recent decades, rising less than seven times over since 1979.

Gonna be interesting to see what Westminster and Holyrood do in October when furlough scheme comes to an end. Some pretty difficult decisions on the way.

Must be a nightmare for young people that are leaving school/uni this year. Will be very difficult to get a decent starter job (or any job).

My work is running at just a few percent below the budget/forecast that was agreed last year, and even then, we're still £10m+ in profit for the year.

Still concerning what will happen once we've left the EU, but our marketplaces thankfully in the main are the Far East and the US.

Think I’m beginning to accept I’ll rent until my parents pop their clogs Monty Oh Well

Feels almost pointless saving right now. About 12 grand short of where I probably need to be to realistically have a chance and that’s before everyone is bidding well over the value Laugh

How big a deposit are banks looking for these days when buying first property? Like 10% or something?
