Scored a derby winner at Easter Road and captained us in our biggest game ever. That should be enough for a jersey retirement in and of itself

Not sure about the no invite thing, tbh. Depends how long he was ill for, as it sounded like it was a private battle.

Wasn't aware he was the overseas player with the most appearance for us
Feeling so flat today still

Didn't realise he had the appearance record for a foreign player
Just another thing to cement his legacy

Not much to add to what's already been said, but as for the rest of you this has really hit home. Think it's a mixture of him growing into a very good player for us, being a really likeable guy, and a major figure at the club when many of us were going home and away (or at least going regularly). Beyond that, we also saw him grow so much as a player and a person, during a time when Hearts in general and the Lithuanians in particular were under fire from all sides (including our own fans), all of which made a number of us on here incredibly invested in him. Maybe also an element of some of us displacing various other emotions we've been suppressing in what's been a difficult year for everyone onto Zal/Hearts.
Bit of an eye opener too - when stuff like this happens at other clubs it can be easy to think their fans go overboard, but it really does hit a lot harder than you expect.

Might go and put a scarf down or something, not up to anything today.
Seem to be reacting worse to this as time goes on |
