Kids were asking me about going to get the tree (they have a fake one at their mums so it's become a bit of a tradition) but the thought of a weekend IKEA queue with 2 kids

That Laurence Fox has to be the most tragic excuse of a man going the now. Seems to think he's a proper spokesman of the people when he's the wettest blanket to have existed.

It's guys like that Laurence Fox which make me consider cutting social media out entirely. You just wouldn't know that wank existed if it wasn't for twitter and life would certainly be no worse.

I read something in the paper with him where he said he got into politics watching youtube videos. Comes across as an edge lord but he's about 45

I'm not on twitter, facebook or any of those but I'm on enough forums and stuff to see the best and worst of them when shite inevitably gets linked. Cutting them out entirely won't be an escape but has to be better than seeing it all constantly. Dunno how folk spend their nights scrolling through facebook and twitter without blowing their brains out, jkb alone almost had me doing it. I'm all for freedom of speech, but why was he selected over so many other notable people in the cultural scene. I assume the reply to that question is "well, why not?" but he's also been funded 5 million pounds to start a new political party based on culture wars. I don't see this happening when other actors, musicians etc...have a wee go at Question Time. It's almost like certain powers have engineered it all, using an actor to deliver the messages of shadowy people in return for money and notoriety. I'm pretty sure his first goal was to get himself "cancelled" - or at least declare himself cancelled as I don't really know his this cancellation process works.

Only reason I look at twitter is to see what the don has been saying.

Ended up getting it from Aldi (or Lidl) they were pretty decent and cheaper than IKEA. It's a winner.

I think if you buy the IKEA tree for £30 you get a £20 voucher for the store in the new year so it's pretty cheap if your happy to spend £20 on your next visit

Also seem to recall that that voucher had to be spent within 5 weeks (or something or other) from the turn of the year. Was speaking to someone last night who said they had been there earlier that day and there were about a 100 folks queueing outside to get in! At the end of the day it just seemed a massive ballache to go out to Straiton (I'll also confess I was a bit late in getting one so think it was pretty much all the scrawny wee yins left ), then go out again in the new year to drop the 20 on Daim Bars. So, 5 minute drive down to the LIdl at Fisherrow, 10 quid on the card and I'm out the door with a six foot buxom fir. I'l be doing the same this year too.

Good shout Pondy I might go there for practicality, although we are always at ikea for stuff like picture frames or candles so the voucher never goes wrong.
