Tin hat on but I've started a Hearts blog in the last few months. I've written a wee article about Liam Boyce below, feel free to have a read and give me any positive or negative comments! Cheers, Ruaraidh.

I enjoyed that. Sound

Good piece on why Boyce is so important and why the tweaks that Neilson has made of late have been effective. I liked that you didn’t disappear down a tactics rabbit hole, but instead wrote about it in the same way that people would discuss it in the pub or with their mates.

Was refreshing to read something that didn’t talk about xG and inverted wingers and the likes.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah enjoyed that. An easy read and not a technical tactical snooze fest.

Would read again.

Agreed. Nicely written from a fans perspective rather than the usual blogs were people pretend they are Pep.

Aye quite a lot of good points in there.

Had noticed Boyce isn't coming as deep now and it's no coincidence he's started scoring. Glad Robbie has been instructing him to do so.

Interesting article mate. I like dissecting players like this.

All I'd add is it'd have been interesting to review where and why he's been successful. Most notably unfashionable Ross County where he scored 48 goals in 99 appearances. What was their formation? How did they utilise him? Did he have a strike partner? Are we doing the same? I don't know if we are.

Also. Maybe interrogating him for pace. Heading ability. Runs. I'm not too sure what his biggest asset is. I'm never properly seen him dominate a centre half yet. Is he a poacher? Feels like Robbie wants him now to hang about the 6 yard box, on the shoulder.

Good article though and enjoyed it. Keep it going mate.

Decent read mate, which doesn’t as other have said disappear up it’s on arse.

Boyce is a bit of an enigma, you can tell he thinks he has the quality to play as a number 10 but his actual real qualities show him to be the perfect number 9 who poaches goals

Cheers guys. Both good points, particularly about County form. His goal record as you've said for them was sensational for a non Old Firm striker.

Defo a change in how he's playing now, when I was writing it I took more screenshots of his other types of play like you mentioned, with a big part his game against QOTS dropping deeper to allow attacking midfielders to power through past the defence.

He's definitely got good technical ability when you watch the way he carries the ball if trying to hold it up for midfield runners. Interesting player but very glad he's at Hearts.

If you want your blog to have more content, i'm sure Cammo Toe would write up an article on what potential signings from the lower leagues of England our new DoF should be looking at. Warnock

Hi all,

Wrote this on Saturday morning then forgot about it due to the Raith rage on Saturday afternoon.

Have a read if you fancy it, it's about the 2008/09 season, just a wee look back if anyone is bored today.

Cheers

I seem to remember us scoring a decent amount of goals from set pieces that season by firing it towards the back post and Berra heading it back across the 6 yard box.

Enjoyed reading that.

Cheers mate, appreciate that. That Amoruso Let's it Run has an upload of the season, we released a DVD I think. Quite a weird one, the table shows so little Goals For (40 to 37 against).

Seemed to grind out wins though, and were probably a quality striker away from having a very decent team. Kello, Neilson, Berra, Zal, Wallace, Miko, Karipidis, Stewart, Aguiar, Driver and Nade/Obua.

I remember we were either excellent or eye bleeding, there was no in between. Some decent highlights from that season, Balogh saving the penalty at Tannadice, coming back from 2-0 down at Ibrox, Palazuelos last minute winner against Motherwell and the last day of the season at Parkhead. That was some day.

Another good read this one, called it spot on in terms of what was happening at the time and how Csaba’s football was turgid to watch but got us results.

I still shudder at the thoughts of Jamie Mole leading the line for us. FuckMe

Also enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t a rose tinted glasses review of the past or a Romanov hate piece which is what usually happens with these things, just spoke about the facts of the time and what went on.

Keep it up man. Sound

Cheers mate. I know, Mole was brutal unfortunately. Was just an interesting season to look back on. One of those where you think, without all the off field nonsense, we should have had a minimum of third place finishes from 06-12 for most seasons under Vlad.

Squad had more quality than non O.F rivals.

I think there was only 3/4 wins over 1 goal? Proper eye bleeding in terms of grinding out wins. I remember the Ruben winner, was brilliant. Got a good result v.s Utd near the end too, 3-0, it looked promising for the following year. But think by that point wages were getting slashed.

Must have been an all time low for amount of Scottish players at the club too, despite having some decent talent coming through the youths.
