There is no way that squad is 3 seasons away from being capable of challenging Aberdeen and hibs.

I’m only saying that he does because of the complete mess of bringing someone else in at this stage of the season.

I think we need to stick with him for now to get us up, the squad needs culled and I’m still not convinced that he’s the man for the long term, but I’ll give him a chance for now.

Bring in a centre mid who can control games, and a centre half in the ilk of Berra pre injury and we should have enough to compete with all jock teams outwith Rangers and Celtic once Lennons away and they are back to competing.

GMS CM Irving Gino

Boyce ST

We shouldn't be taking 2 or 3 seasons to sort that out.

Aberdeen got scudded 4-1 at Ross County last week remember, it is a decent squad, needs tweaks here and there but it is one of the best squads in Scotland.

I don’t think they’ll do it with Neilson, but the squad is good enough if you addressed a couple positions.

We’ve played celtic and hibs this season and done well in both games, the squad is capable I just don’t think the manager is able to get the most out them every week.

Remember I’m not demanding 3rd, I’m just expecting us to be up there with a chance.

It always looks decent on paper but it rarely seems to translate to actual performances regardless of the manager.

4 spaces there plus an entire bench? Don't know how injury prone Gino really is and to be brutally honest Boyce isn't great. Irving has potential but a lot to prove.

There's a lot of work required on this squad for me.

The only clubs with comparable budgets with us in the top flight next year will be Aberdeen (either managed by an uninterested McInnes or a new man trying to manage a transition in his shadow) and Hibs (shite manager with a shite squad). If you think we should look at that league and be happy to compete with Motherwell for a spot in the top six, you are part of the problem.

Boyce is 5 in 9, very harsh to say he’s not been great.  Boyce and ginnelly are our 2 best players imo, or at least since the start of the season so far.

I’d punt Neilson tomorrow.   Monty Oh Well

We were far too hasty getting rid of the Diamond in my opinion.

7 in 10 after today.

He squanders his fair share of chances, but he's been scoring pretty consistently in the last few weeks. The defence and midfield are the main concerns just now, not the attack.

The issue isn't so much how good our squad is, or how well it should be capable performing, but that no matter how good it should be on paper we always seem yo underperform in practice, apparently because of a culture of not caring that has been allowed to set in - like Hibs a few years ago. This season has been a weird mix of signs we might be moving beyond that (mainly the Hibs and Celtic games, which might be deceptive as we'd always have the odd big performance in us) and signs things might be as bad as ever (like today). Imo we need a clearout of players/staff associated with that culture over the last few years - definitely the likes of Walker, probably also Naismith (still capable of contributing but definitely overpaid, also can't shake the fact he spent months training at home and turning up when he felt like it). Others like Berra need to go too, not because of anything to do with attitude but because they're shite.

“It’s massive to get Friday night wins. We spoke before the game asking why is BBC taking Heats at Ayr United on a Friday night? It’s because they expect us to get beat.

“I told them we have to show we are good enough to go and handle that and get a result.
