Not while folk like Budge/Neilson/Murray are anywhere near the club

We're never going to be signing those level of players again whether we're well run or no.
Peak hearts for sure

I think most of us would just settle of a decent manager that get's the best out of his players. It's not much to ask for with our resources. You've got the likes of Livingston going on mazy runs and St Johnstone winning the cup on a budget of 3 tea bags and a stray dug. Look what Clarke did with Kilmarnock.

It's not just the Romanov era I miss, everything pre-Budge was just a great ride following Hearts.
Following Hearts in the 90s was great as well - cup win, good times in Europe, fucking over Hibs regularly (22 in a row and then getting relegated). Even the turn of the century until Romanov came in was good - more European runs, successive third place finishes, Levein actually being a decent manager all amongst the chaos of Pie Man and the weekly protests. There was never a dull moment. All these times, including Romanov era, there was a swagger and confidence about supporting Hearts. Also there was so many likeable players and fan favourites. Plenty duds of course but the duds were in the minority for most of the time. |
