It’s probably boring to bring up Doig again, but I see a fee of £4m from Watford is being banded about today Monty Ooh

Helps they’ve probably got him under contract for a fair length of time and haven’t just been relegated. Think if we were in Hibs position we could have got about that for Hickey.

Unfortunate timing but classic Levein mismanagement, hibs potentially selling Doig and Nisbett for good cash whilst we struggle to pay off Damour and fish around the free transfer market to patch up an already shite squad.

I’d be interested to hear the kickback lot try defend that Monty Chuckle

To have a player in our youth ranks that a year later Leicester City want. And he's a Jambo. And we let him go. For nothing. To our biggest rivals.

Rumours say Levein never even went to Oriam or got involved in training.

I wonder who actually said, let's let Doig go. This lad Arnott?

Love how literally everything we do goes spectacularly wrong, can't even let a random youth full back go without it going massively tits up and making a cunt of us  Warnock should probably just fold the club.

Arnott is one I’m highly sceptical of. There’s nothing about his cv or record at hearts that suggests he should be in such a position.

Agreed - what value have we actually got through the youth system since he took over? A decent Championship season out of Irving? Monty Oh Well

Might be time to start pointing the finger at Arnott

I spent a year thinking it was ex Motherwell player Dougie Arnott. Til I read an article ssying Dougie Arnott owns a pub in Carluke and works for a taxi company.

It’s hard with Doig because I’m sure we decided to focus on Hickey and that’s why doig moved on.

Teams like Bayern were interested in hickey (like Leicester are showing interest in Doig) so hard to say we completely fucked it there. Our record with youth recently has been pish but in this specific instance I think we were just very unlucky we had 2 talented players coming through in the same position who both needed to be playing as much as possible. £1.5m or whatever it was rumoured to be is still a good transfer fee and he was a good player for us when he was here.

Swallowed Levein's line a beauty there my friend.

Why would you not want two quality players even if they play the same position? Laugh I don't think they were both competing for LB either, Doig was playing CB IIRC but Hibs spotted something that we never.

Should we only be trying to bring one player through the system at a time like? Fuck me.

I just thought that’s what was said a while ago that we were going with hickey and couldn’t offer the game time doig wanted so he moved on?

Maybe it is just repeating what Levein said fuck knows. Obv you can bring through more than one player but if the player himself wants to move on to get better exposure with less competition then hard situation for the club.

That 'we can't stand in their way' thing at Hearts really bugs me like. Laugh Never hear it at any other club unless it's a player going to Man U or something. So weird.

Something I’d give credit to hibs for is they seem really on it getting younger decent players on longer term deals.

Puts them in a good position when teams come in for their players where seems like hearts are constantly pumped trying to take what we can get. Look at nisbet I think he’s on something like a 4 or 5 year deal so gives them a good footing when Birmingham come in for him. Transfer wise we never seem to be in the strong position.

Maybe that’s not always true for hibs but off the top of my head they usually get decent deals for their players.

We are absolutely dreadful at choosing the right moment for deals.

Even Nisbet, we came in with a last minute bid but he felt loyalty to Hibs who were offering him a lower wage as they had shown proper interest.

If Hickey had been any good he wouldn't have been an integral part of one of the worst Hearts sides of all time. Tony Can't Hear You

Doig is better than Hickey like, miles better. he's actually athletic and is like your modern day full back, Hickey is like your Robbie Neilson.
