Heard on the radio that China/Russia/USA are upping their coal-fired power generation by 4.5%, or something like that. Zlat

Meanwhile, Biff Whipster and his buddies are glueing themselves to the M25 to ensure we chuck some insulation in the loft.

Hot take: groups like XR and insulate Britain or whatever who seem to exist solely to annoy the public are backed (possibly run) by folk from the fossil fuel industry to make people less sympathetic to climate change issues

The insulation thing is something that should be happening but they cunts have ruined it and the gvt now can’t be seen to do anything to act on it or it’ll come across like blocking motorways is a good way to get what you want.

That should tell you something. Auld boomers don't give a fuck about climate change, why are so many of them involved?

If we knew it was 100% going to work we’d still be 20 year away while just now we’re being told we’re doing massive irreparable damage.

I’m not against nuclear power if it’s safe and it works but it doesn’t seem like the technology is there yet and in the meantime we don’t really have the time to be pissing about.

Nuclear fusion is pretty technical to create. If it’s harnessed correctly then it will solve issues with power creation instantly.

Nuclear fission is pretty much as safe as houses, ridiculous it’s still hamstrung by folk thinking they will grow a third arm if they get within 20 mile of one. It’s where money should be poured until fusion can take over.

You're talking mentally ill people here, surely they should be sectioned rather than arrested.

This COP thing is a total nightmare tbh. Trains striking, buses striking, half the roads closed, binmen striking. Total pain in the arse.

They have got you thinking, and talking about climate, and now most people will admit there is a crisis and something has to be done.

If your response is "they should do something just not that" well you've taken the first step away from denial and now accept there is a problem.

Obviously the issues are systemic and our actions as individuals are largely symbolic gestures, but the more we make, the more pressure that applies on Governments and corporations to change things.

The reason these people are striking has nothing to do with climate change. They want better pay and working conditions. The reason they’re doing it during COP is so as to cause greater disruption at a high profile event in order to increase the chances of their demands being met.

I think it’s fair enough they’re striking, good on them for trying to improve their working conditions. Doesn’t mean it’s not a pain in the arse for the period it’s on though for everyone else. My bird is going to really struggle to get to work at the hospital for example.

Edit: sorry I’m an idiot and now realise you meant the Insulate folk.
