Same Heh

I can manage a fair amount doing breaststroke but I just find swimming so mind-numbingly tedious, I can't stick it out long enough to get much from it.

Half way through a body transformation here. Been hitting it 5-6 days a week on lunch hour or straight after work. approx 45 mins of front crawl. Unreal changes going on, actually can't recommend this enough. Proper fell into this nonsense by mistake. Get yourself viewing a few youtube vids and head down to the pool boys. Guaranteed flat stomach in a month if you can keep it going.

So, thinking about buying this as to keep motivation going I want to easily record my improvements and set targets for each session (distance/laps/intensity etc....)

Garmin Swim 2 Watch. Seems to be the clear market leader in swimming watches that are affordable.

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/665374...0-02247-00

Also has settings for running/cycling etc... as it's a watch for triathlon folk, but the crux of it is focused on swim. Heart rate monitor, underwater GPS for open water swimming. Tracks your laps in the pool and analyses your stroke etc.. basically gives a report of your whole swim sessions without having to set up at all.

Not a fan of all the data collection stuff but if I can isolate to my time in pool/open water as much as possible then I think I may give this a go.

Anyone else used similar for running/cycling? Do you guys measure your workouts using watch? Or is it just on phone because you're on dry land.

You can also play music with underwater headphones with this bad boy.  Warnock Not sure, i'll do that, but cool option to have.

I've got a garmin venu 2, really rate it.

I got it for cycling, (aim to measure distance, speed, heart rate) but also good for sleep monitoring, helps keep an eye on general cardio fitness as well with heart rate, a rough v02 max, your FTP for cycling and so on. Will be using it for swimming as well.

It even has a golf setting so you can see distance to the hole, as you can download courses to it.

Yeah, some of the stuff these things do are unreal. Tbh, I wish there was a this Garmin Swim watch stripped back and ideally a 100 quid cheaper, as I don't need my sleep tracked and all that.

There is Garmin Swim 1 that I can get for 80-90 quid 2nd hand, but it's not a smartwatch. You have to use a USB etc... as it's 10 year old technology. So the Garmin Swim 2 is the only option really.

When you getting back into the pool? Are you near the Commonwealth 2014 pool? My pal was saying the memberships for Glasgow leisure facilities is super cheap (probably disscounted to try to improve health outcomes in the city).

I’ve got a Fitbit charge 4, it’s been great for logging exercise, steps, and sleep analysis, bought it for £90 for my 8 week challenge but have continued to use it,
I’ve never checked if it’s waterproof and it certainly doesn’t look as nice as that Garmin you put up SJ.

This Garmin watch is at the very top of my price budget (ironically it's prob the lowest budget one in the range of proper fitness/swim watches).

I have to say that the style of it is making me think I'll take the plunge (no pun intend lolol). Would have no problem wearing it as a normal watch, so it's not like I'd have to pack it in my bag for the pool and take it on/off which would heighten chances of losing it exponentially (for a clutz like me anyway). Just wear it all the time --maybe not in more formal settings, but ye, you get the idea.
