Kitchin was outstanding btw. The White chocolate mousse with rhubarb consommé was outrageous. The Evening Times called it "a playful, but mysterious little dish" :verysmug:

Just saw Rascals will close in the next few weeks, no surprise really it died after the initial hype.
The Boozy Cow (old Amicus Apple) looks good though and of a similar level.

Maybe a bit pricey, I've been in about 4 times and they always had a big group of staff they were training. At least 3 of the times anyway. I'm guessing it didn't do well as a bar at night?

Just been to a launch event at OX184 down the Cowgate (although I think it's been open a few weeks). Was looking forward to it as I'd heard good things.
Some good Whiskys but the food was poor I thought. Completely random menu too although I tried a few different things. Don't think it's been mentioned on here before but 20 Princes St is good for a Steak.

Just read through this thread, died at the suggestion of Wings
Don't eat out too often or at too many places but I did like Cafe Andaluz, would also recommend Hanams to anyone it's BYOB and good atmosphere, the food is exactly suited to my tastes and it's pretty reasonable. Never been to The Kitchin but heard it's everything you'd expect from a michelin star, has anyone been to 212121? Apparently pretty good for lunches but would cost you about £50pp.

For those that like their food I came across what seems like a decent deal for a couple of days away.
Two nights at Simon Rogen's hotel with breakfast both mornings, one dinner at 2* L'Enclume (taster menu for two) and one 3 course a la carte at their sister restaurant the next day. £595 per couple seems pretty good for all that.
