You shouldn't be ordering chips in a Mexican anyway

We were given a voucher for Jamie's Italian the other week, so went along. Mentioning the voucher as I reckon I've had sub-par service a few times when I've eaten somewhere with a voucher. Anyway, the service was genuinely terrible.
We sat with no drink for about 15 minutes at the start, which was a glass of prosecco included in the voucher, water took even longer to come. We ordered wine at the same time as our food, the starters had been and gone before the 2 glasses of wine arrived, then by the time our mains arrived, those wines were pretty much finished. The menu said all mains came with 2 sides, polenta chips and vegetables. My main arrived, with no sides. When I mentioned them they brought back a menu and tried to get me to order some more, I said I thought they were included, they then argued with me, then left for about 5 minutes, came back, said, yeah sorry they come with the mains, they are going to cook some now. Meanwhile my food was getting cold and it was at least 10 minutes, probably more, before the sides arrived, with the food just sitting there. By this time I'd finished my glass of wine, so ordered another, which then didn't come until after we had finished our food. Deserts took the same length of time. It was absolutely shite. Fair enough, we were on a freebie, but it was around £7.50 a wine, so the bill was still over £30 once we had coffees. The food was fine, was the service was a joke.

I've never heard a good review about any of their restaurants.

Jamie's Italian is brutal.
Went to one in Birmingham - not impressed.

Got a voucher for one

Enjoy your sides m9.
Tbf the food was fine. Had charcuterie, then a chicken breast with aubergine and tomato. Hard to go wrong.

Got lasagne at Jamie's Italian once. 6/10 chain restaurant lasagne - as expected.

Went to a Jamie's Italian once despite all the advice not to.
Service was average and the food was crap. One of the guys mentioned an allergy to the waiter, who came back from the kitchen with the message that they could do nothing about it as everything on the menu was pre-prepared. They eventually decided the best they could do was a Paulie Walnuts-style plain pasta and tomato sauce, and even then the mains all arrived at different times. Coincidentally I was out at a different Italian place with the same guy last night, he mentioned having an allergy and their response was that everything is made fresh so he could order everything on the menu. Night and day.

Average across the board is how I'd describe it. Only been once (with a voucher). Wouldn't pay decent money for it.

As I said it was a chicken breast which was served on a sauce of aubergine and tomato. The starter was a board of cured meats and mozzarella. Almost impossible not to be passable.

On a similar topic, what would you guys say are the best chain restaurants?

Average food with marked up prices because of the name attached to it.
Been once and never went back. |
