I think you need to accommodate his physicality though. He barely loses a header, is a cracking out ball. Does he got to right midfield? Or play up top, he's probably a better option than fletcher to be honest
If he plays then we need to use him further up the park, don't think he's as clever as Fletcher as a striker but he's got different attributes and he's obviously an animal in the air, to be honest though I don't think he gets in my XI if I was picking a Scotland team.
The one where mcTominay hit the bar would have been a class goal too, we actually put together a good few sweeping moves. I liked the fact we looked to play with more of a purpose when we got possession, none of this passing backwards and sideways all the time just for the sake of it.
Mctominay is a great player to bring on and shore things up.
Hoepfully golden boy mcginn is injured for most squads. Would rather have shinnie/mctominay come on and play simple rather than this gollum Roy of the rovers diddy.
I thought the midfield worked really well. I hate to say it, but filling it with confident Celtic players works well. Armstrong is also very familiar with at least two of them, and Fraser is probably in the best form of his career.
Paterson up top instead of Fletcher, Tierney RB and Berra and Souttar in the middle, and we shoot up the rankings and the Nations League groups

Agreed. He's done nothing for Scotland, and not having a midfield spoiler allowed us to go for the kill last night. It would possibly have been a different story if Albania had 11 men, but not having Scott Brown or a knock-off version seemed to improve our game.
Israel are a better side than their recent results, except against us, suggest. They're capable of controlling possession and with it controlling a game. You don't need outstanding individuals to do that, just decent ones in the right positions who play that way and they have them. I think one of our biggest problems will be to get enough possession & momentum to build up a head of steam and pressurise them.

McKenna gets a hard time on here (mostly due to his valuation) but he's an extremely good defender. In him and Souttar we have a top class pairing for the next decade. Even guys like Bates are very good. Not a position to worry about now.
