Cheers Mags, we have a few coats for her plus some novelty hats and costumes, she loves her jackets in the winter tbf! Also she makes it fairly obvious if she's uncomfortable and we take it off, I realise I post a lot of novelty pics but we really love her and don't have her as a plaything, Ive got some good pics of her down the beach and Arthur's seat the other day ETA at Dreds hand comment

Great photos all round
Thankfully I have found a cure for the pulling lead problem. Got a harness where the lead clips under the stomach so anytime she pulls she gets turned around and can't do it. Instantly cured her would highly recommend to anyone with that issue as it was making decent walks impossible.

Rory's dugs ears sticking through the hat
Seriously love this thread. Would love a dog, but how do you all get around leaving the dog when at work? I'd feel rotten leaving a dog in the house on it's Tod. Unless they actually don't mind it much?

He has the run of our hall, kitchen and two rooms.
We have a dog walker comes round about 1pm and has him out for at least an hour to two hours. He plays and chases the other dogs every day so gets a good workout. He would generally sleep all morning anyway. Like if I work from home in the morning he just sleeps on the sofa and occasionally has a wee wander about. The afternoon is the same though if we were home he will want to play. They quite like sleeping really. So he gets morning walk - about 30 mins usually. Then an hour at lunch, then in evening anywhere from one to three walk, depends on whether a quick toilet one, a big one at park then quickly before bed, or other nights he's chilled and just leave him sleeping so only one walk. If you had a wee pug they can barely breathe so it would hardly need hours of exercise.

It is quite sad leaving him when he runs to the front room and watches us go from the window every day.

We live quite close to some of her family, so there's always someone available to let him out. They'll either take him out a big walk or even take him down to their house for a bit.
I'm shifts though, so it's only a few times a month that both of us are at work. If im sleeping after a nightshift, he comes up the room and sleeps next to the bed until I wake up pretty much sleeps from 10/11 at night until 2/3 in the afternoon

Rory's dog is always so happy in pictures :
Been considering getting a dog as well, my mum and dad only stay down the road so could easily take it out for walks when I'm at work, it's just the costs that I'm trying to sort out. Would need to decide whether to go down the adoption route or getting a puppy as well.

She has went from pulling so hard she chocked herself constantly to walking like a normal dog. Occasionally tries to pull but it just spins her right round to face me

So would you say 1 session with the dog walker in the afternoon is sufficient company if you're getting home about 6ish?
We've had neighbours who leave their dogs home all day and they just bark constantly til they get home. Wouldn't want that for the dog or the neighbours. Don't think I'd get a pug realistically I think they're way to energetic. Either French bulldog, or a wee sausage dog thing. Basically anything wee as I don't think we'll have the space for a big fucker. Would love a golden retriever. Would love all the dogs tbh

A well trained dog will just sleep most of the day. It's far from ideal and depends on breed, but your ex-neighbour's dogs just have shit owners

I would try and get a dog walker who would take it for a couple of hours minimum. It's a long time to spend alone. They will sleep most of the morning so it's just really the afternoon, or mines does anyway.

My dug is the laziest thing in the planet Morph The thing about Pugs is they are happy doing what you are, if you're out and about they will be too. If you're chilling watching telly they will be snoring away on the couch.
Get a Pug. |
