I'd get one tomorrow Rory, just can't have pets with our landlord.
No idea why, as it's usually a cleanliness/damages thing but we're unfurnished with laminate floors so not really anything to go wrong

We've just moved house and although it said no pets without the landlords consent(we are furnished though I have put everything into storage and used my own stuff) I'll still be getting Lola once a week, if I had her full time I'd be more inclined to notify them but as it is it's one night a week I'm going to roll the dice

I was always under the impression there was no chance at all, at least that's how it was made out by the estate agent at the time. Going to have a chat to my bursd about it, with my new job should be ok but would maybe need to get a dog walker 4 times a week. Shannest thing will just be leaving it alone all day. Would need to be a breed that copes ok on it's own.

Just try and get the family one for a few nights a week first. It's a big commitment and a few nights might suit you.

I'm lucky tbh. Our families live fairly close by so there's always someone to take him out when we are at work. With the Mrs being part time and my shifts, it's actually only a handful of times a month that we need someone to let him out for a pish.

My dad's retired and just lives along the road from me so when I get one it won't be so bad during the day whenever we're at work. The decision of what breed to get is causing major delays though :

Fast-forward 6 weeks and he's a dog-lover who wants a Tibetan Mastiff What kind of dogs are on your list?

Honestly went through so many different breeds over the last 6 months since we decided we were definitely getting one : Westies, border terriers, dachshund, multiple different types of spaniels, probably others as well that I can't remember.
Would love a golden retriever but think they both need someone in a lot more often than we can really do with work just now.

My afternoon reading has led me to believe golden retrievers are one of the better dogs for staying alone.
That's what we want

One of the worst according to this: 1 star out of 5 for "Tolerates being alone"
