Craig Levein

Can't compare them until the end of the season

BBC just said he's lost three league games since arriving in October. Also undefated in three against Rangers, won two of them.
BUT HE'S NOT AS GOOD AS OUR CRAIG.

Wiki suggests he was unattached before Ann realised the answer was right down the corridor

Checking on his wiki as well it's quite incredible his career and yet there are some utter mong Hearts fans who don't think he'd be good for us.
Played at a decent level for Chelsea. Was assistant for Mourinho when his Chelsea side were all conquering and battering teams left, right and centre. Dalglish's assistant at Liverpool too. Managed himself in the Premiership too. But nah, he's not qualified to manage us Academic now I suppose as he'll likely get a much better gig back down south but a chance blown to get him in in the first instance. Because our answer was just down the corridor.

Yep, fair play to him. However...
1. If he had come to Hearts, I doubt he'd have lasted long, just as I doubt he'll last at Killie either. He's an ambitious man; both clubs are just stepping stones to him. 2. There's an older section of the Hearts support who I suspect would have a problem with him ever becoming manager. Rather like many Hearts fans were opposed to Tommy McLean from Day 1. 3. I don't have an issue with the club not having appointed him. Who was to know he'd do such a startling job given his previous, rather mediocre record? My issue, like that of so many others, is with the ridiculous "model" and Levein's absurd amount of power... which prevents us looking around for pretty much any young, talented manager.

In response to point 3, Shaun, it's hard to know how a manager will do before he's hired, but you can make an educated guess based on reputation and record. Killie did, and they're reaping the rewards of the risk they took.
Us? As you've said:

Tommy Maclean was a wee wank who treated the support with contempt. Or that's what I remember, I was only young when he was in charge though

Don't stop me now, I'm having such a good time

From what I remember everyone was fairly pleased with McLean initially. He had a decent reputation added to Robinson and Deans coming in everyone was optimistic. As shit as he was I don't remember the support turning on him rather than realising it wasn't working and he was offski the next summer
