Say what you want about 'finding his level' now we're in the Championship, he's stepped up, and looks more of a threat than Boyce.
Last night showed he has a big part to play. He's shown strength, confidence and versatility already this season.

Aye fair play to him, he's stepped up to the plate this season so far. Put the hours in at the gym by the looks of it and it's paying off, clearly a confidence player as well.
Got a bit of pace about him as well which was a surprise :

Wasn't shy on taking folk on when he was out on the right.
Like his attitude.

He's turned it around. Legend

Deserves a run-out in the team now IMO. Offers more than Boyce who misses easy chances and only scores penalties.

Boyce still needs to play too imo. Not finding the net yet, but I think his link up play and clever runs help us enormously. The goals will come.

Boyce is depending solely on his CV at this point. Another good chance missed.
The service to him isn't the best and it leads to him coming far too deep to get involved. Need to sort that out.

I like his link up play and his physicality up front, he needs to start finding the net though. Think they'll come eventually but it's a bit concerning some of the chances he's missing.

Feel a bit sorry for Wighton on the right, as he spends half the game doing doggies and defending. I don't think he'd take the ball in and link the play like Boyce though. I'd actually let him play off Boyce and bin Walker in the next game.

I'd play Wighton and Boyce up together, Wighton would benefit from Boyce's build up play and Boyce would benefit from the extra space created. I think a midfield 4 of Haring, Halliday middle with White and Lee either side would work, definitely looked promising last night

Boyce - Wighton
Naismith Halliday - Haring - Ginely Something like this is our strongest option at the moment for me. Roberts is pretty poor. Thought Naisy looked really good when he came on.

I think harsh to criticise Boyce on last night, if we had got beat and he missed that chance at the end there would've been outrage but his actual play on the ball and bringing others into the game is very good. I wouldn't be against giving him a go as a number 10 and playing him in behind wighton. It will come for him he just needs to get goals from open play, hopefully last night filled him with the confidence he needs.

Thought Halliday was really humpty yesterday, really didn't work with him and Lee in the middle. Will probably be enough for the Championship drivel but hopefully Haring can get upto speed when it comes to playing Top tier opponents in cup games.
Times is hard

I had said last night that I wouldn't have even bothered including wighton in the squad at all this season. Glad he's looking like turning it around now, big season for him because he needs to prove he is premiership level.
Great start to the season for him, he'll be full of confidence. I was giving him it so tight since he signed but feel pretty bad about that as I think a lot of the anger was really meant to be directed at Levein.

New contract will be forthcoming I reckon. That goal yesterday is a beauty. He's really done Porteous twice, at outset when he's taken it in and played in Lee and then lost him at the cross.
I'm no Olly Lee fan but his delivery for Wighton goal is top notch. When he was asked to play wide right he did so with intelligence. Credit Robbie where it's due yesterday. He has done a number on Jack Ross tactically. What makes that all the more beautiful is that Stendel did a similar job on him back in March. A thoroughly repulsive creepy cunt. I'm glad Robbie has brought in Lee McCulloch. Guys like McCulloch, Halliday and Goalie are winners. A welcome change from years of perennial loser mentality that Levein exuded.

Very interesting to hear that Boyce has taken off a stone and a half in weight since lockdown. He's scored a number of goals and become an International player before joining us. We are by far the biggest club of his career and he has got himself in shape for what should be his peak years. He'll get much better in weeks to come. With a fair wind we could be in decent shape come the final. Hopefully a fit squad coming off a sequence of wins and plenty goals.
