Laidlaw, Russell, Peter Horne, Sam Johnstone, Chris Harris -
Even Stuart Hogg - getting past their sell by date.
Russell and Johnson are two of the best players we've had in my lifetime ffs. Perhaps the blame should lie with the chuff that was instructing him to constantly kick away possession.

They were. Townsend has ruined them. All Russell wants to do is fucking kick the ball away - there's no inventiveness any more. They/we're easy to play against - press hard passed the gain line and don't give them any space. Our solution is always (it seems) to kick it away.
It's old rugby and Townsend is coaching it like he used to play.
We've got a world class 10 which should be half the battle, and Townsend is wasting him with poor tactics and baffling team selections.
Realistically we're not anywhere near winning a Six Nations under Townsend so need to make major changes now and build towards 2023. Wonder if Dave Rennie would fancy it, but he might not be planning to stick around in this part of the world that long.
There are a lot of exciting young players coming through so we have to be ruthless in binning a lot of the old guard who won't be around in 4 years. Work on a back three of Hogg, Kinghorn and Graham and start giving minutes to Hutchison or Stafford McDowall to play in the centres with Johnson.
If Australia want to get back in this I'd say they need to get back to the high intensity quick hand-off play we saw in the first 15 mins. Easier said than done, obviously.
Can't believe the Aussies have gone with Genia and still not brought Nic White on
Genia and Foley got absolutely destroyed against Wales - exact same is happening today and they're sitting with one of the top scrum halves in the game twiddling his thumbs on the bench
