Obviously not fair to release the names of anyone who's done that because everyone has different financial circumstances, but fair play to those who have.

'Troubled Hearts'
There are going to be notable clubs who don't exist at the end of this. Hearts will take a hit but will be in decent shape relatively speaking.

It's just a shock when we are the first to do it despite all the fans' input and the supposed firm financial footing we were on. I'd have much rather seen high earners lose 50% and the folk on lower incomes maintained. If I was a player who were financially very secure, I'd maybe be thinking, could I not take a bigger pay cut, say 60% or 70%, for the moment and protect someone else's salary. Aye I was seething last night as I read it as we were going to the wall initially but probably shouldn't have got so wound up. I still think it's a joke but I suppose it's probably coming for other clubs. To give a like it or lump it message is stupid and if we hadn't fucked about with the stand and transfers we would've likely had a decent cash reserve in the bank to see us through without going to half pay. I let rip a bit on kickback like seems a bit silly now

Fraser wishart must be wanking himself silly at being able to make comment on us again.
We should have been the last club taking a lead on this, she's a fucking idiot who's learnt nothing about how this would be spun by the papers

Another article full of 'could' and 'might' - they know nothing on the subject
If this is an elaborate way of getting Damour off the books

Hopefully unofficially they've been told that FOH will sort out their salaries retrospectively when this is all over. It would be great if you're right. Would be a first for Budge to release a statement that shines her in a bad light and doesn't overegg the upside and her influence therein though.

what can she actually do if staff refuse the offer and refuse the termination, Make folk redundant?

Again folk on kb saying they're only being 'offered' termination and it's not a ultimatum but it defo reads like one. If that's true and staff can remain on full pay if they want and not face the sack then

The unfortunate reality for many businesses, football included, is that there will be no to very little demand for their services. In order to survive they will have to downsize (significantly) or cease operations temporarily. Fail to do so and the consequences are inevitable.
For many if not most small businesses that do not offer essentials, owners probably need to get the wages off their books and onto the govt's, hence a UBI of sorts. The govt then also need to offer some combo of a one off emergency grant and interest free loan to cover their overheads. The key to recovery is obviously to ensure that most of these businesses can get right back up & running as soon as restrictions are lifted. How you practically implement it however. At this moment in time under the circumstances, I'd say 50% of your current wages is a taker!

That's my view too. It's a request, but ultimately the employees don't have to agree to it if they don't want to. At that point, HMFC's options are to breach their employees' contracts (in the hope that nobody sues you) or continue to honour them.
Publicising it was either a bad idea (if you take the view that it's tantamount to airing dirty laundry), or a good idea (if you take the view that it's a step towards winning the PR war between low-paid club employees vs "fat cat" players who refuse to do the honourable thing and drop their wages).

The fact the SFA haven't got any way of helping out clubs is a disgrace as well.
Sure I heard on the radio just there the English FA are making 50m available to help, imagine that will be directed on a needs must basis.

PR wise, looking as skint as possible would be good for people saving us from relegation imo

Not about the inevitable knock on consequences of the Coronavirus on football, like everything our sport is being badly impacted and will be for a long time to come but because this has quickly exposed the completely disgraceful way our club has been run. Despite this unprecedented situation Hearts should find themselves in a position of relative strength due to the massive and consistent backing of the fanbase. We should find ourselves comfortably in the top 3 or 4 (certainly top 6) of the SPL, we should have constructed a suitable modern stand, we should have player assets and a trim 1st team squad made up of a mix of some experienced senior players and the best of our academy. Instead we are adrift at the bottom, the bottom, of the SPL, we have built a grossly overpriced and substandard main stand (paying extremely dubious people millions to do the work), we have few players assets and are massively underachieving given the vast wage bill that has been sanctioned. This on top of paying God knows how many employees who should have long since been shown the door, having had to play of numerous players who weren't good enough and who were given long absurd contracts etc etc. What has happened at Hearts is shameful. The fans have backed Budge and the FoH to the hilt and yet here we are nearly 6 years since she took over and we are bottom of the league and once again in a financial mess. She should be utterly vilified, not because she is having to make decisions because of the Coronavirus but because those decisions are way more necessary due to her sheer ineptitude, incompetence and arrogance. |
