Boyd loves to be needlessly polemical, but his point about players having mortgages etc is a good one tbf. Basically the whole squad will earn more than most people, but their outgoings will reflect that - take a 50% pay cut and they won't be able to afford them, just like anyone else. Not saying we should feel sorry for the poor professional footballers, but taking a 50% pay cut is only realistic for a small minority (like, as he says, Naismith, who's had a few years of Premiership wages).
Would be good to see him at least acknowledge the existence of non-playing staff, though.
