Need a new smart TV, any suggestions?
Are the majority of new TVs that are coming out still smart TVs?
Always thought it was a bit of a gimmick, don't think ive used any of those features once. What's your budget? https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-hom...4-pdt.html

I use my smart feature to watch Prime but that's about it.
It's got i player etc on there but I use Virgin so get all that anyway. Think all the new ones are basically smart anyway.

Yeah - you'd be struggling to buy a TV without built-in apps these days. Plus, the OSes are generally clunky and generally shite. My uneducated opinion - all much of a muchness, so don't worry too much about things beyond picture & sound quality.

Smart TVs are a gimmick?
All I watch is Netflix, catch up channels and YouTube.

I use my playstation for all the things a smart TV has got on it already tbh.

I think the point is that the TV's have that functionality but people prefer to use the TV box or console etc as the smart TV functionality is a bit clunky or slow. For instance it's much easier to use my BT youview for all of that, than go between one controller for TV channels, then switch that off and then go into smart TV apps for the rest.

Aye basically this. I have a Bravia and the menus are horrible, much easier to use my console as it's easier to navigate and find all the stuff you want. My tv seems to have every single app downloaded onto it it has available so probably why it runs pish.

Depends completely on budget and what size you want. Manufacturers have concentrated on 50"+ for the last few years - TVs smaller than that are actually lower quality/lower tech than those above.
By and large the best tvs start with the word Samsung or LG, but Sony and Panasonic get the occasional representative in there too. Need to check reliable reviews tho as even some pricey sets can be weak on audio/showing action smoothly.

My Samsung 52" plasma finally gave out last month after 12yrs. Wasn't cheap at the time but for us, where spending time indoors was often the norm, it was a quality investment. LG do top notch washing machine and driers. I'd second you on the brands there, Array.
Barely watch the telly here!

Felt I was overpaying for my broadband and tv package with Virgin so phoned them up to threaten to leave. Got myself all ready with rival deals and arguments to go off like Martin Lewis on crack.
The retentions lassie offered me £26pm within about 2 minutes of being on the call absolute jokers were charging me £47pm before for the same package

Made the same call last night, we are about to go from £32 to £57 as our 12 month introductory offer finishes in February but retentions computers were down and was offered £57 per month even though that's what I'll pay :gettawoy:

I just got through and they have offered mix tv which is the middle package for £36.50 p/m, like yourself I rarely watch it but they have the packages tailored so it's dearer for broadband on its own. Took 30 mins on the phone but otherwise I'd be paying £57 p/m from next month.
